Meet the Team

We currently have around 40 staff members between our two offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and we have representation in several other African regions. The Eiffel Corp team includes dedicated designers, developers, researchers, authors, trainers and consultants who all share a passion for education. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate and blessed to do what we do.

Ian Light

Chief Executive Officer

Ian joined Eiffel Corp in 2013, and as the CEO he is responsible for steering and leading the business. Ian qualified as a teacher at the University of the Witwatersrand and subsequently gained a BA Hons degree in Marketing from the University of Wales. He also holds an MBA from the University of Durham Business School, in the UK. Ian spent 18 years in the UK working in the education sector in various roles before becoming the Managing Director at an international eLearning technology company. He has been involved with launching start-up companies, right through to working for large listed corporates and he has held several senior positions.

Matthew Marinovich

Chief Technical Officer

Matthew is an experienced manager and technical consultant with a deep passion for education technologies. His leadership and technical proficiency are invaluable within the company and for Eiffel Corp’s clients. Matthew studied computer science at New Zealand’s Victoria University before going on to complete a range of specialist technical and management certifications. He has worked on a variety of successful software development and technical projects for government, financial services and education clients.

Stefan Du Plessis

Chief Commercial Officer

Stefan leads Eiffel Corp on all legal, commercial and business expansion decisions as well as directing the Eiffel Corp’s Services team. As Chief Commercial Officer, Stefan is responsible for business structure and driving the services division forward as well as working on several other key strategic projects.  After completing his studies in law and finance, Stefan joined the academic publishing business unit at LexisNexis South Africa, where he was responsible for divisional strategy and digital operations.
He pioneered a range of innovative solutions, realising the successful transition from print textbook to digital learning solutions provider. Stefan has 7+ years of experience in the African Higher Education industry, where he focused on the infusion of technology to support teaching and learning outcomes.

Deidre Barnes

Financial Director

With a passion for finance, Deidre joined Eiffel Corp as the Financial Director and she successfully manages the Finance and Renewals team. Deidre graduated from UCT with a B. Com in Financial Accounting, after which she successfully headed up the Account Services Department in her first job. Her interest in education saw her moving to Varsity College as the campus accountant for 9 years. In 2013 Deidre joined Eiffel Corp as the Financial Director and through her dedication and excellent managerial skills, and along with the help of her team, Eiffel Corp has continuously achieved on average a 95% renewal rate for the company.

Myles Thies

Director of Digital Learning Services

With his strong technical and training administration experience, Myles has responsibility for the successful delivery of the Eiffel Corp Services portfolio of projects in Africa. Myles has a wealth of knowledge as an eLearning practitioner and administrator and to add to this, he has recently been accepted in the prestigious Edinburgh University ‘Master’s Degree in Digital Education’.  He is involved in the development and delivery of strategic and consulting services in and around product adoption, learning design, eLearning effectiveness and custom strategy development for Eiffel Corp clientele and partners. Work history includes experience in project management, business analysis, quality assurance well as IT and eLearning management. Qualifications include B. Com Business Management, PMD, Diploma in Computer Science and various executive development programmes.
