COURSE FACILITATORS

Myles Thies

Myles has been involved in digital education for over ten years in various capacities. He is an experienced developer and facilitator of training programmes across multiple formats including blended delivery and fully online. Myles also writes and consults regularly on issues within digital education that are relevant to increasing the adoption of technology for teaching & learning across the education spectrum. 

Myles’s interests include the challenges associated with the digital divide and the opportunities digital education presents for enhancing access and learning in Africa.

Elvis Kafilongo

Elvis holds a master’s degree in Information Technology and Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education. He is currently works as an eLearning Consultant and Training Facilitator. He facilitates eLearning training and workshops in various settings to encourage a more innovative approach to problem solving and student-centered learning. He has a strong technical training and teaching experience in the use of Blackboard and has worked as both an educator and instructional designer.

Fiona McAlister

Fiona’s focus, over the last ten years, has been on digital education and learning technologies, in both the private and public higher education sectors.  Fiona currently works training and industrial design, prior to working with Eiffel Corp, Fiona worked at Wits as an OER Specialist and Educational Developer on a two-year grant-funded project and was selected as a member of Creative Commons Second Institute of Open Leadership (IOL2#) in 2016.

Fiona has a passion for exploring the ever-expanding field of digital education and the opportunities that it offers for lifelong learning.

  • A Desktop or Laptop computer (Laptop is recommended)
  • A Smartphone with at least iOS 9 or Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) or equivalent

HOW IS THE COURSE FACILITATED?

As this course is an online combined synchronous (taught) and asynchronous (self-directed) course. Numbers are limited to 30 participants per course. Participants will engage in self-study and selected live online activities & discussions with the course facilitators and in groups.

COURSE COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for the Course Completion certificate participants will need to participate in all 5 weeks online, attend the final 1.5 days contact session (see location options) and complete the 1 hour invigilated online examination (70% pass mark) (2 x attempts). Participants who choose not to complete this component will receive a Course Attendance certificate only.
